 RegGenie: How to Perform a Registry Backup/Restore

If you are going to manually edit the windows registry it is a good idea to first backup your registry with RegGenie’s Registry Backup.  In the event you want to reverse the registry edits you made, you can use the backup to restore your registry to its original state.

Follow the steps below to make a Registry Backup:

  1. Launch RegGenie

  2. Click on “Registry Backup”


  3. Create a backup by clicking “Backup Now”


  4. Once backup is complete, you will see the message below


Follow the steps below to perform a Registry Restore:

  1. Launch RegGenie

  2. Click on “Registry Backup”


  3. Select the backup you want to restore to from the Registry Restore list.
    (Note: You must have a previous backup point created to complete a restore.)


  4. Click on “Restore”


  5. Confirm the restore change
