Scan in Windows Safemode
Windows Safemode - To ensure the most effective Registry scan, launch RegGenie in Windows safemode.
- Enter Windows Safemode (Click here for instructions)
- Launch RegGenie from Windows Safemode
- Perform a full Scan & Fix and Fix Errors
- Restart you PC and enter Windows normally
Manage Windows Startup Items and Processes
Windows Startup Manager –Save valuable computer memory, decrease the time it takes to start your computer, and increase processing power by choosing what programs you want to run when Windows starts.
- Launch RegGenie
- Click on Windows Startup Manager
- Uncheck those applications you wish to no longer auto-start with Windows
- Click Apply
- Restart your PC for changes to take effect
Defragment Registry and Hard Drive
Registry Defrag –Registry defragmentation re-organizes the internal structure of your registry resulting in better system performance. The Registry Defrag can also analyze your computer to determine if your registry needs defragmentation.
- Launch RegGenie
- Click Registry Defrag
- Click Analyze
- Click Defragment if needed
Windows Defrag – Windows Disk Defragmenter consolidates fragmented files on your computer’s hard disk to improve system performance
- Click Start menu
- Go to Programs – Accessories
- In System Tools, click Disk Defragmenter run the program
Additional Steps
Auto Scan – Automatically scan and cleanup the registry on system startup or any scheduled time and date you choose. Auto Scan is recommended for ‘non-technical’ users.
- Launch RegGenie
- Go to Settings
- Under General options, you may check the following for increased computer speed:
- Automatically run error scan on start-up
- Close RegGenie after repair
- Automatically repair items after scanning
- Run Registry Defrag on every boot up (XP & Vista)
- Under Schedule Scan, you may customize specific times for RegGenie scans by checking Enable scheduling and customizing your dates.
